In this competitive world, we all need the edge we can get. College education provides such an advantage. It allows you to gain experience in a specific area of study while also giving you the benefit of social interaction from all walks of life.

While in a job, we need to know how to handle difficult situations and people because we live in a diverse world. If you were exposed to this a lot more often like you would in college, then you should have confidence to face such challenges since you already have the experience. This is very important for getting jobs since every job will require some form of customer-client interaction. You can be better at this through constant communication. You can supplement it with classes on writing and speaking. Also, you can make mistakes and learn from it. It is better to make the wrong choices in college and learn from it while you are still a student than doing it on the job you love. Making mistakes while working can cost you your position. Therefore, experience gained during your college years are very helpful and important. You are also able to practice good decision-making. Everything is a learning experience and there is more you can gain when you get higher education

Recruiters in this day and age almost always prefer someone with a Master’s degree. Currently, undergraduate degrees are good but having an advanced degree is even better. This shows how critical it is to get a good college education so you can get a good job. Chances of getting a high-paying salary job is very low if you do not get the extra education that most people have. People in the upper level positions of a company have three things in common. First, tons of experience. Secondly, they have all these extra degrees and/or certifications. Last but not least, they have a lot of connections. Employers seek experience which is hard to do if you can not even get a decent job because you lack the necessary education. Luckily, we can work with just a High School diploma in the United States. However, this type of education will not get you far even though you have tons of experience. We can fend for ourselves and live decently without getting a degree but if you wanted more out of life then you need to study and work hard to earn it.

A college or university will give you all three important things that will allow you to be a successful candidate for a job you apply for. As mentioned, these are experience, education and most importantly, connections. Connections are very important because it will help you get your foot in the door. Experience and education is not enough. Knowing the right people at the right time can get you the job you want. Of course, you need good social skills. Fortunately, you can enhance this by attending college. Also, universities and colleges have tons of social groups for different interests. There are fraternities and sororities as well. These organizations should prove helpful during your undergraduate years and especially when you are job hunting. Through these meaningful interactions, you will get more friends, meet professors and other people who can influence you positively. Once you establish a good relationship with someone like your professor, you may come to them for advice. They are likely more willing to introduce and/or hire you for a job. Friends can also let you meet other people, or you can just ask a bit of help from during a time of need. People you meet in colleges and universities might influence you to do things that you have never tried before. It may not necessarily be all good influences but one thing for sure, you can choose who you surround yourself with. One thing to note is that some people have poor interpersonal relationships even though they got a higher education. This is their choice to not go out of their comfort zone and even attempt to reach out to people. These types may get a job but if you notice, those with bubbly personalities are the favorites and top contenders to be the boss.

With more experience, you are more likely to get a better job which pays better. Thus, you can become more endowed and successful in life. Some people might say that colleges and universities cost way too much money but they still attend one because everyone knows it is such a good investment. Most people are happier if they have higher income. Colleges and universities give you that extra edge that you need to get the higher paying job. Thus, it is safe to say college educated people are generally happier because they are usually paid better. This shows education is very important especially secondary education. It gives you more opportunities among other things. Overall, there are more benefits to attending a college or university than staying satisfied with a High School diploma. You get experience, extra education and connections which will give you the edge you need in this competitive world.
